I’m enjoying reading Lisa Earle McLeod’s blog posts and columns around the web, and although she doesn’t write specifically about weight loss on a regular basis, her overall approach to living sure does apply.
Here’s one of Lisa’s columns about weight loss and maintenance–I wasn’t expecting to find material for this blog on her site, but it’s an inspiring post about turning things around with serious, but not monumental effort.

This column aside, Lisa’s essays are humorous and insightful about everyday living. Her latest book is Finding Grace When You Can’t Even Find Clean Underwear, and her web site is at www.ForgetPerfect.com.

Here we go…as I blogged back in April, I did sign up for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day, a 60-mile walk to raise money for breast cancer research. Last week, my first round of emails went out, and I’ve started training.
I hope any readers I may have here will go to my page and make a donation!

Well, after about 3 weeks of moderate stick-to-it-ive-ness on the plan in my last post, I can say that I feel great, but I’m not losing weight. I’m holding steady. I can’t say I’ve been perfectly adherent to the plan. (If I’ve messed up anywhere, it has been on bread.) But I would have thought that I was doing just as well as if I had been counting points. But alas, no.
For me, (and I do mean me and only me), I have found that I don’t really lose unless…
- I’m on an exercise reginmen that includes about 4 hours of cardio a week.
- I count points.
There’s a discussion board on the Weight Watchers site about going “pointless,” i.e., staying in the maintenance zone without counting points. But it looks like that isn’t for me, unless I can find some other diet formula.
So, I remain about 6 pounds above goal, still not a Weight Watchers Lifetimer…but still working at it.
